Waukee is currently Iowa’s fastest growing school district. They are planning to open a new high school in the fall of 2021. The new school will be located south of Douglas between 4th and 10th Street.
The city and school district will purchase and develop land in Northwest Waukee. The district will build a second high school and the city will construct a recreational sports complex.
Waukee will be the second Des Moines suburb to open a second high school, the first being Ankeny.
Since 2000, the city has seen its population go from 5,126 to 17,705 residents. Realtors in Waukee are seeing heavy demand for homes, both existing and new construction. The median sales price in Waukee is $216,000 and the median rent is $1,585 according to Trulia. According to local realtors in Waukee it is not uncommon to see homes sell in less than a week in the current Waukee Real Estate market. This news will likely only help to continue that trend.
